Design

Ps

A web design usually starts on a notepad with the client’s thoughts and ideas. From these notes a simple wireframe is drafted and revised, then a more complex mockup in Photoshop is created. This will give the client’s vision a life of it’s own. During the initial design phase we’ll be able to hone in on key aspects that the client is looking for and modify our visual interpretation of that accordingly. There are always revisions involved, so don’t be afraid to ask for what you want.  If you’re not happy with the final product then you better believe that I’m not either!

Develop

Dw

Development usually begins with a trip down Dreamweaver lane – no, I’m not a hand-coder. Not to say that I can’t code a site in notepad, but why would I want to??  It’s much more efficient to use the most advanced tools available in your craft – how many horse-drawn carriages won the Daytona 500 last year? Dw is an excellent way to organize all your files, connect and upload to your server, and speed up the coding process.  There’s a lot of work to be done with validating code and debugging compatibility issues, why not save time where you can?

It’s common for the average user to think that all websites will look identical in all browsers, and it’s incredibly frustrating to know that this is not the case. A lot of time is spent testing code between the 5 top browsers and developing browser-specific CSS rules to handle any issues. It’s like making Picasso paint each piece on canvas, paper, wood, glass, and brick and expecting identical results across them all – it’s just not that easy! Luckily he didn’t have to do that and we, as designers, have tools to help identify cross-browser issues so we can fix them accordingly.
